so when people speak in tongues is that real?? or what about people talking with god or having visions. one of my favorite band's lead guitarist ( brian head welch from korn) turned hiw life over to jesus in 2005. It makes me think about it a lot. just need some real personal testimonies or stories, events...that will help me understand all this stuff.....

Speaking in tongues is real. In Acts 2, at the day of Pentecost, all of the people were speaking in tongues, but at the time there were "cloven tongues of fire" that sat on their head. However I think most people who try tongues today are not doing it like they did in Acts. It also says all the people were in one accord.
Um, no. It’s a technique people learn when they go into preaching for certain denominations. People get worked up and take in too much oxygen so they hallucinate/start babbling.
That’s all.
Talking with God and having visions, occuring at the same time, would also be part of this.
Any other time someone has a ‘vision’ or claims to talk to God, if it occurs frequently, it’s most likely a mental disease like schizophrenia.
When people speak in tongues it’s not real, it’s just insignificant blather.
Why is it surprising that a barely literate (he didn’t actually write the book himself) half-dead , drug addict ‘turned his life over to Jesus’ ? Who else does that? Educated, high functioning, happy people know better.
I have been in churches and heard people speaking in tongues, and other people interpreting… I have not been terribly impressed or moved by it….. I think it is kinda silly in fact…..I do however think it is probably real.
I agree with Chu chan, I have done it before and at one point thought it was real….But i love science and wanted to see if through science what I did could be explained. Through breathing techniques I deprived my body of oxygen and was able to recreate the moment.

Some people speak in tongues to honor him- it makes God feel better when he sees his children actually caring about him. God doesn’t need visions or dreams to convince people. He called me specially- I was afraid of what happens after death so I joined the church to see if he could fix my fear (I know it sounds corny, but just bear with me). With that fear he changed me and now I’m glad God didn’t use a vision to call me. About talking to God- he usually speaks through everyday means, such as through a song on the radio or by putting a thought into your head you never though about before. God doesn’t use visions for everybody- if he thinks that using a vision would be too much, he will use something smaller. Just keep your ears and eyes focused and you’ll see him talking to you.
Speaking of Jesus, I would suggest that you do what he commanded and search the scripture, the answer will be found there.
Speaking of tongues yes that was real before when the story of the Lord written in Bible. but it not said in the Bible that we have to imitate it this. those who are fake profits using this to brain wash to those people who are dull or weak in there belief. Those people who wants to have Identity power that somebody he she can talk about God. they always say that they are the truth and out side in their group are satan or devils. but there is a saying : "those who said that words are speaking of themselves. the Bible is a holy book that no one could express about the word of God is the priest. In the Bible it was written there the uniform of the priest those embroideries that they hanging like a scarf around the nick. that`s why I beleive more the catholic church teaching than other religion. because they are only preaching not attacking anyone who are lost in their mind.
